Wow, can you believe it’s 2018!? I have a feeling this is going to be the best year yet! I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite things about a new year is the possibility to start fresh in so many areas of our lives. As we dive head first in to January, let’s all jump in on this one goal together—to grow closer and closer to Jesus.
Here are some verses to help us get ourselves in the right mindset, as we pursue the heart of Jesus together this year!
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. Psalm 96:1-3
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. Psalm 33:11
Lord, Thank you for another new year, another fresh start. You are so faithful to meet our needs, to lead us in the way we should go. Help us to hold fast to your word. May we stay focused on you, Father, in the midst of all we have going on in our lives. You hold it all together, Father. Help us to remember we don’t have to. We love you. In Your name, Amen.
AMEN?Yayyyy Happy New Year to you also ❣Thank you for everything you do to encourage, inspire, and help others?it’s a Beautiful thing. Keep it up God Bless
2 Corinthians 5:17 =
This verse is reminding me that I need to be careful and put all sin, for example if I did something and made a mistake and It’s going to cost me money, then I need to realize that any and lies are sin and GOD see’s this and it would be a step back to be dishonest, and it would be better to take a little hit than try to cover it up to save some money now. The potential blessings I could lose and the emotions that I would have to deal with would be a far greater set back than having being behind monetarily. Besides, even though it might look now that I’m behind, GOD will honor the honesty anyways.
Jeremiah 29:11 =
If I’m going to be candid, I still had a quite a bit a fear that I didn’t really want to admit was there. I’ve said in the past what do I have to worry about. I sinned boldly off and on for years and GOD kept his hand on me and protected me, what now if I’m pursuing HIM do I actually have to fear? It’s weird how that works. When I was in full blown sin, I had all the courage in the world, however now that I’ve continued to seek the LORD, it seems like the Devil will do anything to get me to let fear creep in. I’m going to try and keep this verse in mind as well.
Psalm 96:1-3 = This is another one, I mean I’ve often used this analogy and that’s if we could harness just a fraction of the energy people put into secular music or football games and channel that for GOD, we could save the world, we could turn everything around. I mean the passion some people have for their teams, they will shoot each other, the will scream at the top of their lungs and slobber over each other all for some guys on a sports team that move around to different teams. It’s just a brand, there’s no commitment or loyalty it’s all about the money. I’m going to try and remember to do this too and that not be afraid or ashamed of singing praises to the LORD and not worrying what other people think. I didn’t have any problem singing bad songs etc to when I was in the world, why shouldn’t I give all the more to Jesus who saved me??
Proverbs 3:5-6 =
You know, there’s a saying man plans and GOD laughs, and that about sums up my year. I mean I tried and tried to make things happen and it didn’t really go at all the way I planned or saw it, so clearly, I wasn’t ready or I was missing something to be prepared for what GOD has. So, this verse helps me in realizing that I need to become that full whole-hearted warrior that you talked about in your new year’s resolution. That there obviously were some gaps where I didn’t lean into the LORD enough and that I need take it to the next level in order for GOD to really straighten out my paths and make them clear.
Psalm 33:11 =
This one is a reminder that HE knows what’s best and HIS will is going to be done and that we can trust that if we are really following these verses with our whole heart and trying to serve GOD and to not allowing anything to creep in that would set us back for some temporary relief. That we can’t hide anything from GOD. HE sees all and HIS will play out if it’s meant to be there’s really nothing that will stop it as long as we are choosing the right path and fighting that good fight of faith. And to rest in this knowing that he knows what’s best and nothing will stop us in Christ Jesus. Amen.
