Enter Rest. Enter War. Enter Wild.

by | Jun 23, 2020 | Life Advice

If there was ever a season that we would need an “Uncontainable God” to show up, this would be the season right? Remember at the beginning of 2020 there were wildfires decimating Australia? And then Kobe tragically passed away? I remember looking at the tv after the news of Kobe’s passing and thinking… “God? It’s only January. Can we catch a break?

And then the entire planet shut down and 500,000 people lost their lives to Covid. As an author and speaker I lost my income. I watched my mom quickly deteriorate under the pain of Covid.

And most recently the mounting civil unrest across the globe as a war on racism is underway.

God? CAN WE CATCH A BREAK?

And just as I want to continue to scream from the rooftops, I hear His still small voice saying to us… “I’m not surprised by any of this Carlos. I have it all under control.”

In a season where we may feel like the sky is falling, God is still in control.

Adult life and circumstances have kidnapped our childlike faith. Worry robbed our wonder. Anxiety robbed our amazement. For you, it may be fear, doubt, or anger. The cause may be different, but the effect is the same. For me, it was unreal levels of anxiety. Before I knew it, I found myself like many of us in the church…with a small, boring faith. A mild faith.

But what if I told you that you didn’t have to stay here? What if I told you that a mild faith can blow up into a wild faith? Will it take hard work? Yes. But here’s the truth: you can wake up every single morning and sprint into a day filled with miracles, signs, and wonders. It’s possible. Absolutely. It happened to me.

John 10:10 says this: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it to the full.” But as Christians many of us don’t give God enough credit OR the enemy enough credit. We rewrite this scripture to say “A thief comes only to bother, annoy, and irritate you. I have come that they may have life, and have it to the half!”

Why do we sell the God that makes the earth spin and float so short? And why do we not give the enemy the amount of attention he needs?

Listen. If we want to see our uncontainable God show up in our lives in uncontainable ways, we need to live this life on purpose! These 3 simple steps will help you get there…

Enter Rest. Enter War. Enter Wild

Rest has almost become a four-letter word in our society. Rest has been undeservedly linked with laziness. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. Rest begets revival. Show me one single revival that didn’t begin with someone hearing from God. We have to hear from Him. And the only way to truly begin to hear Him more is to lower the volume of life. Lower the volume of life, and the volume of God’s voice goes up. Lower the volume of life; watch revival happen.

Once you Enter Rest and we are hearing from God, we are going to start taking the next steps toward Entering Wild. But there is a step in between Rest and Wild. It’s War. This may sound terrifying, but the war we fight will lead us toward abundance because it is laced with the hope of the Cross. When was the last time you heard someone define war as hopeful? Most of us have never been in that situation. But that’s because most of us didn’t grow up in a country where we were sold, beaten, or marginalized in the most inhumane ways. But in fact people who live in those places actually dream of war. They dream of having an opportunity to confront and defeat their oppressors so that they can find freedom. That’s the kind of war I’m talking about here, where there is hope because those in bondage imagine a world without oppression. This is the kind of freedom you can feel with this uncontainable GOD!!!

And last but not least…

WILD.

ENTER WILD.

Once you win the war, you get to Enter Wild. You are now at a place where you can begin to step into the truth and wonder of our faith. This is what it’s really supposed to look and feel like.

I want to let you know that it may not be like you imagined. Stepping into the land of miracles, signs, and wonders is not for the faint of heart or for those who want to do this Christianity thing only on the weekends. It will absolutely change everything about how you are living in these times…

And that’s my prayer for you friends…

That you finally find the uncontainable and wild side of God that we may have misplaced when we tried so hard to play it safe…
