Just Say No

“If we really have too much to do, there are some items on the agenda which God did not put there. Let us submit the list to him and ask him to indicate which items we must delete. There is always time to do the will of God. If we are too busy to do that, we are too busy.”  Elisabeth Elliot

Whoa. Raise your hand if that quote hit you straight in the heart. Both hands up over here! “If we have too much to do, there are some items on the agenda which God didn’t put there…” I don’t know about you, but I’ve spent a lot of my life saying “yes” to pretty much any and every opportunity sent my way—mainly, because I hate disappointing people. Yep, I just admitted it. I am a recovering people pleaser. Whew, it feels GOOD to get that off of my chest.

For years, I thought saying yes meant I was doing God’s work. But as I started to dive into scripture, I realized that even Jesus had to say no to some good opportunities, in order to grab hold of right the opportunities—the ones he was meant to say yes to. We have to make space in our agendas for God to be God to lead us.

Have you ever felt God leading you to do something, but you didn’t feel like you had the time to do it? That’s how you know it’s time to reevaluate your schedule and eliminate a few things. “There’s always time to do the will of God. If we are too busy to do that, we are too busy.” What things can you say no to today? Is there something on your plate that you know you’re not supposed to be doing? Say no, and let God lead you to your next yes.

In a culture that equates worth with busyness, we have to retrain our minds to know that there is power in rest. When we rest at the feet of Jesus, we won’t have to wonder what we should say yes to. He will lead us to the right opportunities, and He’ll give us the strength and energy to do them well. Let’s shift our focus from pleasing people, to obeying God’s leadership, and He will undoubtedly give us the opportunity to serve people. When we’re free to serve people, instead of striving to please them, we will find ourselves bringing joy to others. Joy transcends happiness. It doesn’t waiver based on circumstances. That’s something that’s worth saying yes to. So, let’s get to it. What can you say no to, today? Do it. You’ll be amazed by the good that will come from it.

So, Miss Sadie, first of all I just wanted to say that it was never my intention to be the center of attention or do anything outside of the will of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost guiding me. Furthermore, I would never want to divert or take away from the primary purpose of this blog. Since there was another Blog post today and there’s not been a ton of comments here, although I’m sure many many are reading this, I would like to take the opportunity to say hi again and hope it’s ok to make a quick comment. Obviously, it’s clear that this blog is designed to reach youth and girls specifically. And I think that girls should be the main focus, however we need anyone and everyone on board as possible. And like I’ve said before if anyone has a chance at tilting America back to GOD and the World it’s you the Mighty Miss. Sadie. Now I’m not super versed in eschatology or the Bible for that matter, I know enough to hold my own. However, when I think of end times and the return of Jesus, my gut instinct tells me that it could be at any time now. And although I understand that the Bible doesn’t speak of a revival in the end days, if there’s anyone that GOD could use to be like the next Beth Moore or the likes at saving a huge mass of souls for Jesus Christ it’s you, Miss Sadie. I’m convinced of it. But I believe it’s going to take a full-on commitment of you to preaching the gospel and nothing but the gospel day in and day out and not letting anything else get in the way. I mean you speak and write so awesome and know the Bible so much I think there should be a new phrase coined after you like: “The Walking Bible.” Now in terms of your post, I don’t like change I’ve been very comfortable with doing the same things over and over. From driving the same routes to eating at the same restaurants and ordering the same foods, whatever. This can get a little dull and boring, so this is something I’d like to change for sure to get out of my comfort zone and try some new things. I mean while this may have been a characteristic that worked against me in my sin before I totally committed to Jesus Christ, it seems to work to my advantage now with keeping me on that narrow path that leads to life. I know this isn’t the exact kind of change your talking about, but it made me think of change in terms of if there’s anything that I’ve learned and always heard in life is that change is going to come whether we like it or not. And I think it’s good to remember that time is going to keep marching on and the world will be what it will be and that we need to remember to focus our eyes on Jesus at all times and remember that HIS word is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. You know I can’t think of a better place to be on the internet than with these blogs and a few other places. I believe that they can help anyone and everyone even if they are targeted at youth. I hope it’s ok that I comment on here, however if you, SADIE ONLY, don’t think it’s appropriate for some reason or you don’t want me to comment on here then all you have to do is say so, just shoot me an email telling me your wishes, otherwise thanks for being you and keep being awesome and saving souls for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. And I too pray that GOD uses you in the biggest ways ever known for HIS purpose and that you become exclusively full-time in the ministry and only the things of GOD and that HE puts you on fire for absolute nonstop preaching revival that goes for many many years to come. Hey, I’m with you all the way at changing the world including with one smile at a time. And I continue to pray that GOD summons a Holy Host of Angels to be around about you as a hedge of protection like a wall of fire and that absolutely nothing may be able to breach this force. And as always, I pray this by the blood of JESUS CHRIST and in the precious name of JESUS CHRIST, Amen. Sincerely, Nicholas Julien…

This really hit me hard, and I needed that. The place where I work is full of believers, non believers, homosexuals, and some who have been injured by ‘church’. I am not even sure who out of my work relationships are believers and who are not, and I know that I myself haven’t been shining for Jesus the way that I should. I know it should break my heart every time I walk in the building. So I know that that is one thing that needs to change…
